What happend to unflux forum

Postby regsyn01 on Fri Sep 22, 2006 11:36 am

Look at all this spam on the forum?
I mean, look at the 'latest form topics' on the main site. All spam!

It might be a good idea to only allow paying customers of unflux to post on this forum, after al it's called 'Customer Support Forum' on the main site.
New customers must ask questions via the form on the main site or by emaill.

What's the point in allowing a potential client to sign up to ask a question and then to decide not to become a client and leave his account with 1 post?

What ya'll think?

unfortunately there is no foolproof way to stop the spammers. I come here daily and remove spam and users, but it's get tired after awhile. We considered removing the forum altogether, mostly because it doesn't get a lot of use. But dealing with spammers makes me lean towards doing just that.

To bad you consider removing it! :(
Look at the bright side, if it is getting no use everything must be working just fine!

I can’t recall singing up myself to this forum rather gaining access by purchasing a hosting plan, can’t u just remove the ‘register’ link and like I said allow only paying customers to post.
I find it quite handy to ask questions this way instead of sending an email and you can always look back at the problem/solution wherever you are and it might help other people as well with similar problems.

It’s your time, dedication and money, so what ever you decide.
i'm with it! 8)

You're right, those are all the reasons to keep it around, and the reasons we wanted to establish a support forum to begin with. You may be right about limiting the forum's access to clients only, we'll have to see what process we can come up with for that.

To answer your point about 1 posters, the truth is: we've done a lot of sales through the forum. Not just with posts, but through the Private Message system. Some people don't really want to give up their email addresses to an unknown company just find out about them or talk to someone. It's a good altnernative.

Funny how i've turned around the reasons to get rid of it into ones as to why we should keep it now.
