A couple of queries

Postby Ganceann on Thu Oct 19, 2006 8:10 pm

client denied by server configuration: /home2/ganceann/public_html/.html

This error appeared in my error log when I was looking to implement a cgi contact us form.

I created it as per instructions on another users site that uses the same script I am using - I am curious how to resolve the error or should I ignore it as I checked and the email was delivered to the intended address.

The default email with the script for sending emails to people who register or have articles approved/declined works ok, just not sure the script I am looking to use in the contact us form will continue to work long term if it keeps generating the same error in the log.

Also, I plan to have one email address that has multiple people accessing it (support@domain-name.net). To access directly I have used domain-name.com/webmail (just confirming this is the correct way to access it directly or is there any other preferred method for direct access to the email).

Regarding Web Stats:

I get the following error when clicking on urchin stats

Unable to get profile id from configuration database

And finally, I think, under the cpanel statistics software configuration I get a red X for all the statistics packages - analog, awstats, urchin and webalizer while under the stats configuration option I see an empty page.

I am curious how to resolve this to get access to stats.

Thanks.

Ganceann

ps. I think this is every query I have as everything else has been resolved in a very timely manner. Hopefully no more queries from me after this :P

For that problem I am guessing you haven't setup the script right. I notice that there is no file .html that exists in that location, and I think that would be a funny file name anyway. I am guessing it should be something like success.html or whatever.html, and from the way your error is appearing the script is trying to open the wrong file, which usually comes down to how you set it up. I would contact your the programmer who made the script as they should be able to help you better.

As far as the other problem with Urchin, it should be fixed shortly.

Try going into urchin again and let me know if you still have a problem. Your issue should be resolved now.

Still the same problem with the urchin stats.

btw, regarding webalizer/Awstats do I need to turn them on somehow?

Regarding the error message for the form - I had followed the instructions on what to do exactly - but noticed they were wrong in the sense it said to leave the name blank - actually should have named the page :P

The .html extension is the default extension for the script I am using, and when I simply named the page as contact-us.html it appears the error disappeared from the log files. I felt it was strange not to name the page :P

Try Urchin again, Bryan forgot to add one thing to fix your issue.

With regards to webalizer and awstats we have those disabled on the server due to how much server resources they use. If we were to enable webalizer and awstats it would bring the server to a halt during processing of log files.

And with regards to your script I am glad you figured it out.

Thanks,

Yeah it works now - and the other stats aren't really needed anyway and it is better to ensure servers are more efficient than providing the same information in triplicate essentially :P

As I said, hopefully no more queries now as everything seems to be fine and should stay that way.
